This picture of Dymphna represents her spiritual accent from earthly body to soul. When I painted the earthly area a spiral vortex is centered in the foreground and I decided to leave it in along with some imagery I’m still trying to interpret! There also seems to be some orb type spheres seemingly rising from the vortex. However it is my intention for the viewer to decide what you see and how it is.
I painted this along the same time I worked on her portrait. Her history is briefly covered in the description of the portrait titled, Saint Dymphna, “Body and Blood”. This painting was also inspired by a preliminary drawing I did when “channeling” this ancient spirit. I will include this charcoal drawing on this site,as part of a series of sketches and drawings leading up to my paintings.
I wanted to show a different image of her other than what has been painted before, but I want to mention that the many interesting and beautiful images I came across in my research...

Originally coming from the Del-Mar-Va Peninsula, another place of tremendous natural beauty, with colorful sky, wetlands and shoreline. The Original artwork shown here is drawn and painted with expressive freestyle palette knife techniques, charcoal and other mixed media. Inspiration comes from the brilliant tropical light,and develops from the native"Mana”and life spirits in the landscapes, rainforest, and reef life here.
